A Marquis Who's Who Magazine 373 F or a talented individual like Dr. F. Warren Tingley, there has never beenadullmoment inhis career. Beginninghis formal education at Emory University, he received a Bachelor of Arts in 1955 and an MD in 1959. Dr. Tingley then enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, rising to the rank of captain within five years of service. From there, he completed a residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in cardiology before going into practice with two other internists in 1966. A diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine and former member of the Board of Governors, Dr. Tingley continued to maintain a private practice in Arlington, Texas until 1988, when he chose to become involved in the insurance industry. He hoped to make a greater impact by working directly for the companies that paid for health care. Over the years, Dr. Tingleyhasworked for awide range of insurance companies, beginning with Metropolitan Life Insurance Company in Irving, Texas as the medical director of the southwestern region. He also held leadership roles with William M. Mercer Inc., Provident Life and Accident Insurance Company, and Travelers Insurance Company between the 1980s and 1990s. More recently, Dr. Tingley strengthened his knowledge and expertise as a senior vice president and chief medical officer of Kemper National Services from 1995 to 2000, and as medical director of MedNet Connect from 2005 to 2007 and Fairpay Solutions from2007 to 2009. A frequent contributor of articles to professional journals, he was appointed to the Texas Commission onHealthCare Reimbursement Alternatives in 1987 and received formal recognition from the Texas Medical Association in the formof an official commendation and community service award. Above all else, Dr. Tingley has been continually motivated by his desire to help patients, whether in private practice or as an executive at a health insurance company. Though the latter method may be less direct, it can be more effective in ensuring that patients receive the care they need. F.
