A Marquis Who's Who Magazine 375 D r. Craig Aaron Tovey has utilized his expertise as an engineering educator for 36 years. Wanting to explain how the things we use every day work, Dr. Tovey earned a Bachelor of Arts from Harvard College in 1977 and a PhD from Stanford University in 1981. After gaining the knowledge necessary to succeed, he made a home at Georgia Institute of Technology as an assistant professor from 1981 to 1985. He continued to excel at the institution, earning positions as an associate professor and professor, a role in which he has remained since 1993. In addition to his tenure at Georgia Institute of Technology, he served as a senior research associate for the National Research Council from 1990 to 1991, co-director at the Center of Biologically Inspired Design from 2006 to 2009, and a consultant at AT&T Bell Laboratories, Weyerhaeuser Paper Co., and Freddie Mac. Throughout his career, Dr. Tovey has reached many highlights, including receiving the Golden Goose Award in 2016, an award he won because of his ability to tie two pieces of research that came 15 years apart together. Hehashad theopportunity tobe aneditor of a textbook entitled “Modeling in Industrial Engineering” and has receivedmany awards for his contributions to the field, including the Presidential Young Investigator Award from the National Science Foundation in 1985, the Jacob Wolfowitz Prize from AJMMS in 1989, and a research fellowship from the Georgia Institute of Technology from1995 to 1999. Dr. Tovey remains active in the field as a member of INFORMS and the Society of Neuroscience.
