376 MILLENNIUM-SECOND EDITION A professor emerita at Sacred Heart University since 2017, Dr. Mary G. Trefry amassed more than 40 years of professional experience while serving in multiple roles in academia and library services. After commencing her career as a children’s services manager and then branch manager at the Fairfax County Public Library in 1974, she served as a longtime principal owner of Trefry Resource Group between 1983 and 2000 while obtaining a postgraduate degree. After earning her doctorate, she transitioned into education and began serving as an adjunct instructor and visiting full-time instructor at Sacred Heart University between 1994 and 2000. Soon thereafter, she held several positions at the university, including serving as an assistant professor, associate professor, interim academic director of graduate programs, academic liaison for the Luxembourg MBA programs, and chairman of the department of management in the Jack Welch College of Business. Dr. Trefry holds a BA in French from Agnes Scott College, anMLS in library and information services from the University of Maryland, and an MA and PhD in organizational and social psychology from Columbia University. Her primary focus areas have included leadership, organizational behavior, cross-cultural management, intercultural communication and managing change. Having presented her research at academic conferences in both the United States and Europe, she has also been featured in several academic publications, including the Organization Management Journal, the Journal of Management Education, the Case Research Journal, and the International Journal of Management. In recognitionof her exceptional contributions to academia, Sacred Heart University has presented Dr. Trefry with multiple accolades throughout her impressive career. Most recently earning the Faculty Global Engagement Award in 2017, she also received the Distinguished Service Award from the alumni organization in 2017, the Bishop Walter J. Curtis Award from the Jack F. Welch College of Business in 2013, the Teaching Excellence Award in 2004, the Leadership Award from the Council of Graduate Students in 2003, and the university’s prestigious community service Discovery Award in 1999.
