A Marquis Who's Who Magazine 377 R ev. Msgr. Robert Frederick Trisco served The Catholic University of America for 41 years in a variety of capacities, including as academic vice-rector. During his tenure with the university, he rose through the ranks, establishing himself as a professor of church history until ascending to the role of Kelly-Quinn Distinguished Professor of Church History. He retired from teaching in 2000. Alongside his role in academia, Msgr. Trisco has served on ecumenical and other committees of the National Conference of American Bishops and on commissions for the beatification of renowned religious figures, such as Vincent Robert Capodanno and Thomas Frederick Price. A prolific author, Msgr. Trisco has also penned “The Holy See and Nascent Church in the MiddleWestern U.S. 1826-1950,” contributed articles to professional journals, written several books with other authors, and acted as an editor and co- editor of numerous publications. He was editor of The Catholic Historical Review from 1963 to 2005 and continues to serve as associate editor. From 1982 to 2009 and since 1986, Msgr. Trisco has been an honorary member of the Accademia di San Carlo in Milan, Italy. He also served the American Catholic Historical Association as executive secretary from 1961 to 1983 and as secretary-treasurer from 1983 to 2009. To prepare for his illustrious career, Msgr. Trisco received a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Saint Mary of the Lake, as well as the degrees of Licentiate of Sacred Theology and Doctor of Ecclesiastial History from the Pontifical Gregorian University. He was the recipient of an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters from Belmont Abbey College in 1992. In recognition of his contributions to higher education and religious service, Msgr. Trisco was presented with the Founders Award by the Alumni Association at Pontifical North American College. He was honored by the Holy See with the titles of Prelate of Honor (1992) and Protonotary Supernumerary (2005). In the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalemhe has been a Knight and Knight Commander since 1993 and 1998, respectively. Msgr.
