Wiebenson is an esteemed architectural historian, editor and writer who has served as the president of Architectural Publications in New York City since 1982. Prior to this illustrious role, she was the editor-in-chief of Centropa for 15 years and a professor at the University of Virginia for an additional 15 years. Earlier in her career, she served a variety of academic institutions, including Columbia University, the University of Maryland and Cornell University. She commenced her career as a prominent architect in New York City in 1951. Dr. Wiebenson holds a BA from Vassar College, a MArch from the School of Architecture at the prestigious Harvard University, and a PhD in architectural history from New York University. She was a student fellow at the Institute of Fine Arts while earning her doctorate, later becoming a fellow of the Yale Center for British Art and a senior research fellow of the National Endowment for the Humanities. Later in her career, she was an associate fellow of the Center for Advanced Studies in Culture at the University of Virginia. Throughout her career, Dr. Wiebenson has authored, co-authored, edited and co-edited numerous works regarding architectural history and written several articles appearing in professional journals in her spare time. Most recently, she was the co-editor of “The Architecture of Historic Hungary” in 1998. In addition, she has served on the boards of the American Society for Eighteenth-Century Studies and the Society of Architectural Historians. Dr. Wiebenson was a grantee of several foundations and institutions, such as the Samuel H. Kress Foundation, the Architectural History Foundation, the Graham Foundation for Advanced Studies in the Fine Arts, and the American Council of Learned Societies. Dr. Weibenson, who was born in Cleveland, Ohio in July 1926 and raised by parents Edward Ralph and Jeannette Rodier Wiebenson, has been highlighted in multiple editions of Who’s Who in America and Who’s Who of American Women.
