A Marquis Who's Who Magazine 421 R aised by lawyers and other legal professionals, Ann Zeigler has been surrounded by the profession all her life. She initially attended college to pursue degrees in other areas, earning a BA from Fort Wright College in 1969 and an MFA in creative writing from the University of Montana in 1975. After graduate school, she worked as a legal secretary, inspiring her decision to obtain a law degree. She earned a JD from the University of Houston Law Center in 1984, after serving as executive director of its international law journal. After beginning her legal career in Houston as an associate at Dula, Shields & Egbert in 1984 and at Dow, Cogburn & Friedman in 1987, Ms. Zeigler served as an associate in the bankruptcy section and a Chapter 7 trustee attorney for Hughes, Watters & Askanase between 1990 and 2008. She then acted as of counsel for Nelson S. Ebaugh P.C. from 2009 to 2010 and as an investigator for District 4 of the Texas Supreme Court Committee on Unauthorized Practice of Law from 2010 to 2012. During this time, she also taught a course for the National Institute for Trial Advocacy in the Southern Trial Skills Program and served in many positions on The Houston Lawyer magazine editorial board. Returning to her passion for writing, Ms. Zeigler has authored multiple legal nonfiction books and articles, including the award- winning “Preserving Electronic Evidence for Trial” with computer forensics expert Ernesto Rojas. The first book in her mystery series, entitled “Hobby of Corpses,” was a finalist for the 2017 David Morrell Prize. In addition, she is completing another nonfiction book, titled “100 Tips Lawyers Wish You Knew,” which will be released in 2019. Ms. Zeigler is a board member of both the Rocky Mountain chapter of Mystery Writers of America and the New Mexico chapter of Sisters in Crime, of which she was president in 2017. A native of Spokane, Washington, she has been married to writer-photographer Paul Stewart Zeigler since 1970 and is the proud mother of a daughter who owns a geological consulting firm.
