500 MILLENNIUM-SECOND EDITION F ollowing his retirement from an inventory and production planning manager position with Nestlé after 37 years, Christopher J. Stranahan took his 30-year relationship with life insurance provider Foresters Financial one step further and was elected director and international fraternal vice president of the company. In this role, Mr. Stranahan serves on both the fraternal and the investment and risk committees, builds relationships with member leaders and organizations, and acts as a liaison for the western region of the U.S., which has 11 branches and approximately 175,000 members. His ability to patiently develop relationships within his profession and knack for being in the right place at the right time allowed him to work his way through the lodge system at Foresters and assume his current position, while working hard and getting the job done earned him a Lifetime Achievement Award in 2013. Along with Foresters, Mr. Stranahan, who has an associate degree in industrial engineering technology, has owned and operated his own business, Wild Birds Unlimited, for the past 12 years. STRANAHAN I n his senior role with Hatch, an award-winning consulting engineering firm, Mark Stirrup is responsible for overseeing projects that include environmental assessment, design, construction, combined sewer overflow, and wastewater management. A former water quality manager for the city of Hamilton, he is also the director of Hamilton Green Venture, a community-based organization committed to energy, water and waste reduction. He is a member of the Water Environment Association of Ontario, which awarded him a Golden Manhole Award in 2011 for his participation in the design, planning and management of sewer collection systems, as well as Professional Engineers Ontario and the Ontario chapter of the Water Environment Federation. With more than 30 years of experience in his field, Mr. Stirrup has prepared and presented a number of technical papers on combined sewer overflow and sanitary sewer overflow, and was the sole lecturer for a two-day course organized by the Educational Program Innovations Centre (EPIC) in Mississauga. He received a Bachelor of Engineering and a Master of Engineering in real-time control and sewer overflow from McMaster University.
