118 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine respiratory diseases at St. Vincent Hospital and was director of regional inpatient and outpatient tuberculosis services for Worchester County, Massachusetts, during those years. A former senior pulmonary research scientist in the department of anesthesia and anesthesia research at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Dr. Weiss was a professor of medicine at the University of Massachusetts Medical School and was appointed visiting professor in the Faculty of Medicine at Harvard Medical School from 1995 to 2002. Alongside these appointments, he was an appointed honorary member of the department of astronomy at Wellesley College; instructor, assistant and associate professor, and lecturer at Tufts University School of Medicine; and associate professor of life sciences at Worcester Polytechnic Institute. He twice taught at the University of Guadalajara Medical School, where he was awarded the title of Professor Extraordinaire. He also served as president of the Massachusetts Thoracic Society and served I nterested in medicine since he was 8 years old, Dr. Earle B. Weiss was inspired by his parents, who provided encouragement. Earning a BS in biology and chemistry, with honors, from Northeastern University and an MS in biochemistry from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, he subsequently obtained an MD from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in 1961. Interning at Kings County Hospital and completing a residency in internal medicine at Boston City Hospital, he was also a fellow of the National Heart Institute at Boston City Hospital and U.S. Public Health Service while serving as a senior research associate and staff physician at the Tufts Lung Station. He served Boston City Hospital as a senior attending physician and founding director of the first respiratory intensive care unit before becoming director of the pulmonary physiology laboratory, associate physician and associate chief of medicine at Tufts Medical Service (I & II).
