123 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine HEALTH AND WELLNESS W ith a clinical interest in minimally invasive surgical techniques, Dr. Kimberly Rae Carlson treats her patients using state-of- the-art technology, including stem cell therapy. She holds specialized interests in oncologic surgery, reconstructive surgery, orthopedic surgery and trauma, focusing on partnering with the pet’s family and family veterinarian for the best possible treatment modality. Practicing out of the North Peninsula Veterinary Surgical Group in San Mateo, California, since 2019 and the Bay Area Veterinary Specialists in San Leandro, California, since 2011, she holds a DVM from the University of Illinois School of Veterinary Medicine. She completed a surgical residency at the Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine and commenced her first role as a surgeon for Veterinary Surgical Centers Delta in Berkeley, California, in 2006. A diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons since 2008, Dr. Carlson also provides low-cost surgery for underprivileged clients, volunteers at her local children’s school and is a past president of the Alameda County Veterinary Association, where she headed the organization for five years. At the inception of her career, she initially planned to pursue business management. However, utilizing her passion for animal welfare, she discovered her true affinity for making a difference in animal lives. Since then, she has become one of the top 10 providers of stem cell therapy to animals across the nation, and she is the only surgeon in the Bay Area who will guarantee her services after-hours. Dr. Carlson was listed in the 64 th edition of Who’s Who in America in 2009 in recognition of her outstanding contributions to veterinary medicine. She considers the relationships she develops with her clients to be the most rewarding aspect of her career. She understands that she must rely upon the testimonials of the pets’ owners to find the best possible route of treatment, and as a result of her service, she has been a source of comfort for her patients’ families. She thoroughly enjoys conversing with her clients, as they come from a variety of different cultures across the globe. Some of her frequent clients have become her closest friends.
