155 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine LAW AND LAW ENFORCEMENT F inding that law was the most optimal fit for his skill set, Alan Miles Ruben, Esq., pursued education in law and excelled in his myriad roles. The recipient of a Bachelor of Arts, Master of Arts, and JD from the University of Pennsylvania, he commenced his career as a law clerk with the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania in 1956 ALAN MILES RUBEN, ESQ. PROFESSOR EMERITUS, CLEVELAND STATE UNIVERSITY ADVISORY LAW PROFESSOR, FUDAN UNIVERSITY Bratenahl, OH before serving as a deputy to city solicitor in Philadelphia. Upholding his own private practice from 1958 to 1965, he acted as deputy attorney general for the State of Pennsylvania for four years and special counsel to the U.S. Senate Subcommittee on National Stockpile in 1962. From there, he served as associate counsel to Aetna Life & Casualty Company and corporate counsel to the Lubrizol Corporation before starting his tenure at Cleveland State University in the Cleveland-Marshall College of Law. A professor from 1970 until attaining emeritus status in 2003, he served as a commentator of higher education for Station WCLV-FM. Since 1993, Mr. Ruben has been an advisory law professor at Fudan University in Shanghai, China. Mr. Ruben was the editor-in-chief of “How Arbitration Works” and contributed practice guides, articles, and books regarding corporate law, employee labor disputes, and insurance law, which can be found on Amazon. A member of the American Bar Association, Ohio Bar Association and the International Industrial Relations Research Association, he was named a fellow of the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers. From 1976 to 1978, he was chairman of the law and education section of the Association of American Law Schools, and from 1995 to 2002, was a member of the Securities Law Institute with the Cleveland Metro Bar Association. Mr. Ruben was elected to the Cleveland- Marshall College of Law Hall of Fame in 2018. While pursuing a doctoral degree, he was a prize winner of the National Moot Court Competition, as well as a winner of the International Debate Championship with the International Institute of Education. However, he is most proud of when his article was published in the Fudan University Law Review, which guided the development of the Chinese stock market.
