158 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine Ms. Williams maintains affiliation with the American Bar Association, the State Bar of Georgia, the Omicron Delta Kappa Law Society and Alpha Kappa Alpha. In 2017, she was appointed by the Supreme Court of Georgia as a mentor for young lawyers, and she remains involved in her community through the Ebenezer Baptist Church, the New Birth Missionary Baptist Church, the Mount Olive Church of God and the Bethlehem Church of God. In light of her exceptional undertakings, Ms. Williams was rated among Best Lawyers in America, Lawyers of Distinction and Great Women of the 21st Century. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from Spelman College, Master of Arts in educational psychology from the University of Michigan and JD from Emory University. Looking toward the future, she intends to venture deeply into the world of business, where she plans to train people where there is a legacy of standing for justice. D rawing upon an intense desire to speak out against forms of injustice in her community, Rita Tucker Williams initially started out as an elementary school teacher in California in 1977. Deciding ultimately to pursue law, she became an associate for Alston & Bird in Atlanta, Georgia, after receiving her juris doctorate before acting in the same capacity for Bernard & Associates in Decatur, Georgia. Since 1990, Ms. Williams has been the chief executive officer and owner of Williams & Associates in Decatur. She thoroughly enjoys telling people’s stories and speaking out for those who feel they have no voice. Believing that law is important to humanity, Ms. Williams is proud of the diversity within the legal profession in contemporary times, where there are more women and people of color now than when she started in the field in the late 1980s. Willing to share her wealth of knowledge with prospective lawyers, she was an instructor of a seminar at the National Institute for Trial Advocacy at Emory University and was a tutor for first year law students. Demonstrating a penchant for the arts, she is also a writer and spoken word artist.
