174 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine D r. Jacqueline Y. Miller developed an interest in lepidopterology when she was a child growing up in western Pennsylvania collecting butterflies and birds. She attended the University of Pittsburgh, where she earned a BS in 1965, and Catholic University of America, where she obtained an MS in 1968. Since receiving her PhD from the University of Florida in 1986, she has served several facilities in their biology, zoology and entomology departments, including the University of Pittsburgh, Gallaudet University, and the Florida Museum of Natural History. Since 1992, she has been the associate curator for the Allyn Museum of Entomology, as well as the Allyn Curator for Lepidoptera at the McGuire Center for Lepidoptera and Biodiversity since 2004. In addition, she has been the associate director of the McGuire Center since 2005. Dr. Miller finds the most rewarding aspect of her job to be passing along her enthusiasm to students. She received the William D. Winter Service Award from the Lepidopterists’ Society and was named a fellow of the Entomological Society of America. She enjoys harvesting orchids and cooking in her spare time. CURATOR, LEPIDOPTERIST University of Florida McGuire Center Gainesville, FL W hen he was a teenager, Dr. Jonas Tillman Holdeman Jr. obtained an amateur radio license, which prompted his intrigue in electronics and physics. Though he was interested in disassembling and reassembling electronics, he soon transformed his curiosity about physics into a desire to learn about astronomy. He commenced his career as a staff member at the Los Alamos Science Laboratory, followed by positions as a research associate at Michigan State University and associate professor of physics at the University of Southwestern Louisiana. He later served Oak Ridge National Laboratory as group leader in the computer science division and was a proprietor and principal investigator for Obelisk Research, where he conducted research in intercultural property development and computational fluid dynamics. Since his retirement in 2011, he has served as an independent researcher in computation fluid dynamics. During his career, Dr. Holdeman maintained affiliation with the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the Society of Industrial AppliedMathematics and the American Physical Society.
