96 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine ENERGY, ENGINEERING AND MANUFACTURING J ohn J. McCambridge found his roots in a blue-collar background, his father being a foreman at Brooklyn Union Gas and his mother being a homemaker. Drawing upon a BCE fromManhattanCollege andMS fromVanderbilt University, he commenced his career as a commissioned second lieutenant with the U.S. Air Force, rising to the rank of colonel before retiring in 1979. During this time, he served as a civil engineer for Raymond Concrete Pile Company in New York City for one year before acting in numerous executive roles in Washington, D.C., and Bethesda, Maryland, until 1990. For the last 15 years of his career, he was the managing principal of JMC Consultant Group in McLean, Virginia, until his retirement in 2005. He accrued 50 wonderful years in the field. Among his notable achievements, Mr. McCambridge is most renowned for implementing the advanced concept ejection seat in F15, F16 and A10 jets during his time in the Air Force. Throughout his career, he has maintained affiliation with numerous professional organizations, such as the Dwight D. Eisenhower Society, where he serves as current trustee and former treasurer. The past president of the Black Tie Club, he also chaired TheWashington Assembly and the Institute of Hazardous Materials Management, where he is also a distinguished diplomate. Avocational organizations with which he has been associated include the Tower Club and the Knights of Columbus. He was also a representative to the physics survey committee of the National Academy of Sciences and chairman of the Air Panel of NBC Defense for NATO in Belgium. In light of his exceptional undertakings, Mr. McCambridge had the John J. McCambridge Research Grant Program named in his honor by the Institute of Hazardous Materials Management in 2006. He also received a Lifetime Achievement Award and Founding Father Award from the institute as well. Due to his accomplishments in the Air Force, he received a Decorated Legion of Merit with Oak Leaf Cluster. JOHN J.
