39 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine EDUCATION F rom an early age, Carol A. Eppright felt a calling to teach students after receiving direction and inspiration from her former teachers, who also served as great mentors during the formative stages of her career. Drawing upon a BS and anMA fromTexasWoman’s University, Ms. Eppright first served as a college instructor at Platte Technical Community College (now known as Central Community College) in Columbus, Nebraska, from1970 to 1974 before commencing her tenure as an instructor at WeatherfordCollege inWeatherford, Texas. Remaining in that role for 41 fruitful years, she earned the rank of professor emerita in 2015, an achievement she cites as an ultimate career highlight. In her position, she taught principles of economics, American history, leadership, western civilization and sociology. In addition to teaching, she served as an advisor for the Phi chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, the national honor society for community college students. During this time, the chapter won several regional and national awards. Alongside her primary career responsibilities, Ms. Eppright has contributed her time and expertise to several civic endeavors, including volunteering at numerous food banks, donating to the Salvation Army, and participating in the American Cancer Society. She is a past deacon and elder of the Grace First Presbyterian Church in Weatherford and previously created a scholarship at Weatherford College for students who strive to become educators. To remain current with developments in the field, shemaintains affiliation with the Texas Community College Teachers Association. Ms. Eppright holds great pride in her positive rapport with her fellow teachers, and she most enjoyed working with her students on a daily basis. She credits her involvement with her students as a factor in her success, noting that students are more likely to participate in class discussions when shown an interest in their lives and wellbeing. As a testament to her longevity and success in the industry, Phi Theta Kappa presented her with a Continued Excellence Award and recognized her as Advisor of the Year. She was also selected for inclusion in the 64th edition of Who’s Who in America in 2009. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, cross-stitching, knitting and traveling, particularly to Ireland.
