41 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine EDUCATION A lthough her sisters were educators, Dr. Rita R. Frady steadfastly refused to go into the field and instead pursued a Bachelor of Music in performance from the University of West Georgia. It was not until years later, with much cajoling and encouragement from her husband, that she decided to become an educator, earning her teaching certification from Kennesaw State RITA R. FRADY, EDD MUSIC EDUCATOR Hasty Elementary School Fine Arts Academy Canton, GA University. Much to her amazement, she found her life’s passion and taught elementary music in Title I schools for the next 28 years. Throughout the years, she constantly sought ways to improve her teaching methodologies, classroom management style, and curriculum development. Academically, this was accomplished by earning a master’s degree in early childhood education from Brenau University, as well as an Education Specialist degree in curriculum and instruction and Doctor of Education in teaching and learning, both from Piedmont College. Practically, she acquired experience by attending music workshops and holding affiliate memberships in prominent organizations, such as the Georgia Association of Educators, the National Association for Music Education, the National Education Association, and the Feierabend Association for Music Association. She also kept abreast of recent developments by studying forums, articles and books by prominent instructional leaders in the field. Dr. Frady’s teaching resume also includes serving as a collaborating teacher for student teachers seeking music education degrees, an instructor for the redeliveryof InTechcertification, and an adjunct professor for Piedmont College. She has been Teacher of the Year three times throughout her career and received numerous national honors from Marquis Who’s Who. Dr. Frady currently serves as a member of the Quaver Advisory Council for Quaver’s Marvelous World of Music and recently earned a Microsoft Innovative Educator certification. Life outside of the classroom for Dr. Frady consists of being a mother and grandmother. She has spent many hours at practices and games, in the gym for basketball and on the soccer field, being number one fan to her children. Now that they have grown, she has time for kayaking, walking, reading and traveling with her husband.
