21 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine Chi and Glen Bradshaw. During her studies, she began serving as a freelance art teacher in Houston, Texas, and Nantucket, Massachusetts, while simultaneously focusing on her own artistic endeavors. As a volunteer at the Texas Institute of Child Psychiatry, she taught children how to paint, which eventually led to her full- time profession in adult art education. With a technique that can be described as stylized realism, Ms. Townsend-Viner’s artwork bursts with patterns with a hint of realistic undertones. She has displayed her work in both solo and group shows across the United States at locations such as the Betty Barker Gallery, the South Wharf Gallery, the Little Gallery, the Kirby Gallery, the Robert Rice Gallery, and the James Hunt Barker Gallery. Her work has also appeared at Stephen F. Austin State University; the VNA Hospice House in Vero Beach, Florida; and Art League Houston. She sits on the board of trustees of the Vero Beach Museum of Art and serves as a Deacon at the Community Church of Vero Beach. Ms. Townsend-Viner attributes her success to hard work and being committed to the career she has chosen. After the Sept. 11 attacks, she came to a revelation that she wanted to donate all of her artwork to charity. She has done so since then and contributed to auctions for various charitable causes. In recognition of her work, Ms. Townsend- Viner has received three awards from the New Canaan Society for the Arts and accolades from the Southwestern Watercolor Society, the Artists Association of Nantucket and the Rocky Mountain National Watermedia Exhibition. She was also presented with two Merit Awards from Art League of Houston. Her work has been shown in juried exhibitions at the National Academy of Design, Butler Institute of American Art, Allied Artists of America and Watercolor USA. T hough she originally intended to pursue a career in physics, Teryl Townsend- Viner, was struck by lightning in her late 20s, which redirected her professional goals. Resolving to dedicate her life to the arts after this experience, she studied under the tutelage of several prominent artists, including Robert E. Wood, Millard Sheets, Chen TERYL TOWNSEND- VINER, AWS, NWS ARTIST, EDUCATOR Orchid, FL ARTS, MEDIA AND ENTERTAINMENT
