48 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine EDUCATION Bibliographical Journal of the International Arthurian Society for nearly a decade and has also contributed myriad articles to professional journals. To remain abreast of developments in the field, he maintains affiliation with the International Courtly Literature Society, where he has been an honorary president for the past 30 years. He has also been a member of the Modern Language Association, the International Society for the Classical Tradition, and the American Association of Teachers of French. Among the notable highlights of his career, Dr. Kelly is most proud of publishing articles on medieval poetry and prose in scholarly journals. As a testament to his success, he has garnered several accolades, including the Hilldale Award in the Humanities from the University of Wisconsin- Madison and the Prix Escalibur Award from the International Arthurian Society. He was also highlighted in the 47th through 50th and 52nd editions of Who’s Who in America. D rawing upon a BA from the University of Southern California in Los Angeles and an MA and PhD from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Dr. Douglas Kelly also taught in Versailles, France, at Lycée Hoche as an assistant of English during his postgraduate studies. Employed by the University of Wisconsin-Madison for the entirety of his career, he started as a lecturer in 1962, holding the role for two years before ascending the ranks to assistant professor in 1964 and associate professor in 1966. From 1970 until attaining emeritus status in 1999, he was a full professor, where he specialized in French and medieval studies. During this time, he was a fellow and senior member of the Institute for Research in the Humanities, Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation (WARF) professor, and Romnes fellow. He also maintained association with the Medieval Academy of America, attaining emeritus fellow status in 2017. Authoring and co-authoring numerous texts throughout his career, Dr. Kelly is the recent author of “Machaut and the Medieval Apprenticeship Tradition: Truth, Fiction, and Poetic Craft,” published in 2014.
