66 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine EDUCATION I nfluenced by his father and brother, who both encouraged him to go into accounting, Dr. Marco E. Tonietti sought to delve into the business industry. Earning an MS in accounting from the University of Illinois and an MBA from the University of California Los Angeles, he soon discovered the benefits of teaching and obtained a PhD in business administration from Saint Louis University. He commenced his career in 1961 as an accountant for Eitel-McCullough Inc. in San Carlos, California, before becoming an auditor for the Civic Financial Corporation in Beverly Hills from 1964 to 1965. After receiving his doctorate degree, he was employed by California State University, Fullerton, where he served as a professor from 1970 until his retirement in 2000. Since 2000, he has held the title of professor emeritus. He cites his professorship to be the ultimate highlight of his career, as he received his professorship with tenure at the age of 42. To share his breadth of knowledge with the business and academic communities, Dr. Tonietti contributed multiple articles to esteemed journals between 1976 and 1984. Renowned for his keen sense of focus and driven nature, he has never allowed any obstacles to hinder his development or professional career, especially when it came to earning his degrees. During his 39-year long career, he found the most rewarding aspect of his profession to be producing excellent students who went on to establish good careers for themselves. He has had several former students remember him from as far back as 30 years ago, and they truly valued his expertise and methodical teaching style. In fact, he was so valued at California State University, Fullerton, that upon his retirement, faculty and students threw an elaborate party on behalf of Dr. Tonietti, thanking him for his extended service to the university. Married to Suzanne Tonietti since 1968, Dr. Tonietti recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on June 15, 2018. A native of Baghdad, Iraq, he immigrated to the United States in 1959 and now resides in Anaheim, California. In his spare time, he enjoys traveling. He has been highlighted in the 31 st edition of Who’s Who in Finance and Industry. MARCO E.
