71 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine EDUCATION W illa Etta Mitchell Williams has been a prominent educator in the Los Angeles Unified School District since 1957. Most recently serving as a master teacher, fourth grade bilingual education teacher, grade level chairman and integration coordinator at Marvin Avenue Elementary School, she has been retired since 2017 after 60 fruitful years in the field. Civically involved as well, she has contributed in myriad capacities to the Saint Mark United Methodist Church in Los Angeles, serving as a member of the Administrative Council, Trustee, member of the Board of Directors, member of the Golden Years Choir, Adult Bible Teacher, Adult Sunday School Teacher, Women’s President, and Supervisor of the daily senior lunch program. Ms. Williams has also served as the Chairman of Project STEAM with United Way, for which she received a United Way Service Award in 1982. A certified Teacher and Administrator in the State of California, she maintained affiliation with the National Education Association, the California Teachers Association, Black Educators of United Teachers Los Angeles, and the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development. In addition, she is a member of Phi Delta Kappa and the Theta Mu Omega chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., for which she helped charter new chapter memberships. To prepare for her career, Ms. Williams pursued formal education at Los Angeles City College, where she received an AA in 1954. She then transferred to California State University, Los Angeles, earning a BA in 1957. She also obtained an MA from Azusa Pacific University in 1979, and subsequently completed an Elementary Internship with the District Administrative Internship Program at Marvin Avenue Elementary School in 1982. As a testament to her success, she received an Outstanding Service Award from the Parent Teacher Association of the Marvin Avenue Elementary School in 1982. She was also selected for inclusion in the 20th edition of Who’s Who in the West in 1985. In her spare time, she enjoys collecting jazz music.
