129 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine HEALTH AND WELLNESS D esiring to be an educator from a formative age, Dr. Marcella E. Lingham chose her profession because she believes there are many ways to assist individuals in growing and overcoming obstacles. She thoroughly enjoys watching people reach their goals and takes great pleasure in having even a small role in their success. Studying first at Temple University from 1960 to 1962, she obtained an EdB from Cheyney University of Pennsylvania in 1965. She commenced her career as a teacher in the School District of Philadelphia for the following five years until earning an MEd from Temple University in 1970. From 1970 to 1972, she was a curriculum development specialist and reading specialist for RCA Service Company, and from 1972 to 1979, she was a project director, curriculum developer and educational consultant for Research for Better Schools Inc. During this time, she studied toward her doctorate degree and received an EdD from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, in 1980. From 1980 to 1983, Dr. Lingham was an assistant professor at Rutgers, having thereafter served Primary Community Health Center of Mantua Inc. as an executive director from 1983 to 1984. From 1984 to 1985, she was a project director for the Mantua Community Development Corporation. Returning to Rutgers, she briefly served as a learning specialist in its school of nursing for one year before obtaining her current roles as the president and chief executive officer of Quality Community Health Care Inc., positions she has held since 1986. Alongside her primary endeavors, she was a speaker at multiple conferences for the American Educational Research Association. To remain abreast of developments in the field, Dr. Lingham maintains affiliation with the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, the American Public Health Association, the American Association of University Women and the International Literacy Association. In recognition of her outstanding contributions to her profession, she received a Recognition Award and was highlighted in the 71st edition of Who’s Who in America, as well as several editions of Who’s Who in the East, Who’s Who in the World and Who’s Who of American Women.
