91 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine received a PhD in 1995. Employed by the Raytheon Company since 2013, Dr. Cropper is a hyperspectral imaging technical subject matter expert, systems engineer, and electro-optical and infrared engineering fellow. Prior to serving in these roles, he worked for ITT, Inc., the Eastman Kodak Company and Corning Incorporated. However, he commenced his career in academia, serving as an instructor of electrical engineering technology at Norfolk State University before becoming an assistant professor at the University of the West Indies in Trinidad and Tobago and research associate in the Electronic Characterization Laboratory at Morgan State University. He also taught at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University and conducted research at Clarkson University. Dr. Cropper holds an optical systems engineering certification, a Stage-Gate® Process certification, Miller Heiman Conceptual Selling® and Strategic Selling® certifications, and a Front Line Leadership certification. Earning a diploma from the SPIE Infrared Technology Program and the Project Management Certificate Program, he is also certified in value-based product development and failure mode and effect analysis. A longtimemember of SPIE, the American Indian Science and Engineering Society (AISES), and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Dr. Cropper has received several accolades. Inducted into the Howard University Hall of Fame, he was named Professional of the Year by AISES and received a STAR Award from the Raytheon Company and the Excellence in Science and Technology Award from the Institute of Caribbean Studies. He was honored with the Broadening Diversity Efforts Award from the Corning IncorporatedSocietyof BlackProfessionals, having first won the Outstanding Men of America Award in 1988. He most recently earned the Sunshine Award in 2019. Married with one child, he enjoys swimming, art and reading in his spare time. D r. Andre D. Cropper was inspired by his father to disassemble and reassemble electronics, having been interested in technology from an early age. He then chose to focus on engineering and attended Howard University, where he earned a BS and MS in electrical engineering in 1984 and 1987, respectively.
