94 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine ENERGY, ENGINEERING AND MANUFACTURING I nspired to enter the field of engineering by Walter Clauson, his high school teacher, Donald E. Husby dedicated 56 years to his profession prior to his retirement from the industry in 2008. He most recently served as the chief executive officer of Husby & Husby, Inc., for 18 years and previously held several executive roles with engineering firms throughout the United States, including Cooper Lighting, Hubbell Incorporated, Elliptipar, Inc., and the Westinghouse Electric Corporation, a prestigious manufacturing company to which Mr. Husby devoted 24 years. While working for Westinghouse, Mr. Husby fell under the tutelage of George Westinghouse himself and enjoyed the privilege of working with the prominent engineer who was a pioneer in the electrical industry. During that time, Mr. Husby also established numerous splinter organizations and designed several lighting products to obtain 25 electrical and optical patents. In addition, he has lent his expertise to the National Institute of Standards and Technology and the U.S. Department of Commerce, serving as a technology expert in the National Voluntary Laboratory Accreditation Program. The recipient of a BS from South Dakota State University, Mr. Husby has penned myriad articles in professional journals and maintained membership with the Illuminating Engineering Society, the Society of Plastics Engineers, the National Electrical Manufacturers Association, the American Society for Quality, and the Designers Lighting Forum. He has also been affiliated with Mensa International and Toastmasters International. In recognition of his exceptional contributions to his industry, Mr. Husby received a Distinguished Service Award from the Illuminating Engineering Society in 1989, having also been deemed a fellow of the society. He was also highlighted in numerous editions of Who’s Who in America and Who’s Who in the Midwest. A native of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Mr. Husby was born in November 1927 to Olaf and Elsie Louise Husby. He married the late Beverly June Tilbury in 1949 and enjoys music in his spare time. DONALD E.
