119 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine E mployed with the Dallas Independent School District in Texas for 34 years, Nancy L. Saylor Wingrove is a distinguished retired teacher who most recently served the school district as a teacher of computer literacy from 1989 to 1997. At the inception of her career in 1963, she was a teacher of elementary physical education for 13 years before becoming a teacher of physical education and girls’ gymnastics coach for the following decade. From 1983 to 1995, she also served as a teacher of driver’s education, having simultaneously been a teacher of physical education from 1986 to 1990. Certified in elementary and secondary education, computer literacy, driver’s education, and physical education and recreation in the State of Texas, Ms. Saylor Wingrove holds a Bachelor of Science in health, physical education, recreation and dance from Texas Woman’s University. In retirement, she continued to serve as a bus driving instructor and trainer for the Region 10 Education Service Center in Dallas from 1997 to 2016. Civically involved as well, she sat on the educator’s political action committee in Austin, Texas, from 1983 to 1996 and was a member of the Texas Parent Teacher Association in 1969. Ms. Saylor Wingrove was a regional representative of the Texas Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (TAHPERD) from 1984 to 1987, having been president from 1981 to 1983. Involved with sports early on in her career, after her graduation from college, she worked with students with mental disabilities for the Denton State School, where she acquired an abundance of experience that would allow her to pursue teaching. Accruing many honors over the course of her career, Ms. Saylor Wingrove was presented with the Favorite Teacher Award from Positive Parents of Dallas in 1983. She was also highlighted in the third edition of Who’s Who in American Education and the 15th, 16th and 21st editions of Who’s Who of American Women. NANCY L.
