120 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine W ith the desire to serve others instilled in him from a young age, Frederick R. Schneider found education to be a suitable profession for his skill set and passions. Receiving a Bachelor of Arts from Luther College in 1961 and JD from the University of Chicago in 1964, he began his career first as an associate with Steele, Smyth, Klos & Flynn in La Crosse, Wisconsin, for five years before delving into academia. Employed with Northern Kentucky University for the remainder of his career, he started as an assistant professor of law in the Chase College of Law in 1969 and soon ascended the ranks to associate professor in 1972 and full professor in 1973. Holding the role of professor for the following 35 years, he also acted as an assistant dean of the Chase College of Law from 1974 to 1976. He attained emeritus status in 2009, currently holding that title. Admitted to practice law in Wisconsin, as well as before the United States Tax Court and the United States District Court for the Western District of Wisconsin, Mr. Schneider also sat on several committees and task forces during his tenure, including serving as the vice chair of the Task Force of Faculties and vice president of the Faculty Senate from 1998 to 2000. He also chaired the dean search committee, and served as president of the special task force of the Faculty on Reassigned Time and several times chaired the professional concerns committee. Further, he was a consultant to the Ohio District of the American Lutheran Church, as well as a contributor of articles to professional publications. Affiliated with the State Bar of Wisconsin since 1984, Mr. Schneider has maintained affiliation with such prominent organizations as the Trinity Lutheran Church, the Boy Scouts of America, the Organization of Vietnamese Refugees, the Cincinnati Bar Association and Stephen Ministry. In light of his exceptional undertakings, he was honored with a Faculty Leadership Award and Foundation Merit Professorship Award from Northern Kentucky University, as well as five times the Lukowski Award for Teaching. Married to the late Karen Anderson from 1963 until 2017, Mr. Schneider has three children: Kari, Richard and Carl. FREDERICK R.
