When she is not applying her skills to academic pursuits, Dr. St. Pierre is spending her time taking photographs. Featured in the book “The Flower Teachers: Stories for a New Generation” by Candace Jesse Stout in 2002, she was also an illustrator for the Italian Americana journal from 1971 to 1981 and designed the Holiday Greeting Card for the American Lung Association in 1978. A noted member of the Photographic Society of America, she received the Outstanding Service Award from the New York State Art Teachers Association in 2001. Born in Buffalo, NewYork, Dr. St. Pierre currently resides in Getzville, New York. Enjoying traveling, reading, art and gardening in her spare time, she has been highlighted in several editions of Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in American Education, Who’s Who in the World and Who’s Who of AmericanWomen. D r. Cherie St. Pierre has been a talented artist from the time she was a young girl. Encouraged to pursue artistic endeavors, she attended the State University College at Buffalo, earning a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in art education in 1967 and 1970, respectively. Soon thereafter, she received a Master of Arts in Italian from Middlebury College in 1976. After accruing 25 years of practiced experience in art education, she returned to her studies and obtained a PhD in Communication and Culture from the English Department at New York University. Serving the Kenmore-Tonawanda Union Free School District as a K-12 art teacher for 33 years, Dr. St. Pierre additionally excelled in her roles as a college supervisor for student teachers and cooperating teacher for art student teachers at Buffalo State College. Likewise, she was a senior partner at the New York State Academy for Teaching and Learning, as well as an adjunct professor at Medaille College. To remain abreast of developments in her industry, she has maintained affiliation with numerous organizations, including the New York State Art Teachers Association, where she served as state secretary for two years. Other organizations with which she is associated include the American Association of University Women, the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, the Kenmore Teachers CHERIE ST.
