152 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine W ith 43 years of practiced experience in education, Dr. Hans Henrich Hock is a prominent educator of linguistics and Sanskrit. His first position was instructor of German at the Tuskegee Institute during the summer of 1964. His linguistics career at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign began in 1967 as instructor; he was promoted to assistant professor in 1971, associate professor in 1975 and full professor in 1987. Becoming emeritus professor in 2007, he continues to teach a fall semester Campus Honors Program course. Dr. Hock received an MA from Northwestern University and PhD from Yale University. The author, co-author, editor and co-editor of numerous publications on linguistics and Sanskrit, he also presents at conferences across the globe. He is a lifetime member of the Linguistic Society of India and Linguistic Society of America. He has also been elected a Fellow of the Linguistic Society of America, honorary life member of Societas Linguistica Europaea, and received an honorary LittD from Deccan College in India. Further, he has received research grants from the American Philosophical Society and American Institute of Indian Studies, as well as a Fulbright visiting professorship for India. PROFESSOR EMERITUS University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign Champaign, IL D r. Keith A. Hitchins is a professor of Eastern European history at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. At the inception of his tenure in 1967, he served as an associate professor of history before becoming a full professor in 1969. Prior to these appointments, he served Rice University and Wake Forest University as an assistant professor of history between 1958 and 1967. Drawing upon a Bachelor of Arts from Union College, and Master of Arts and PhD from Harvard University, Dr. Hitchins is an expert in the cultural, economic and social affairs of Romania. The author of myriad texts, most recently including “A Concise History of Romania” in 2014, he is currently publishing a new book titled “East of West: Romania 1919-2007,” which will debut later this year. In light of his outstanding contributions to Romanian education, Dr. Hitchins is the recipient of eight honorary PhDs from myriad universities across Romania such as the University of Bucharest, Alexandru Ioan Cuza University, the West University of Timisoara and Babes-Bolyai University. Impressively, Dr. Hitchins also received two National Orders for Merit from the President of Romania in 2000 and 2016.
