179 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine A fter finding an old record player when he was in the fourth grade, Jack Andrew Wagner Jr. and his father spent the rest of the night taking the pieces apart and fixing the record player. That was when Mr. Wagner officially caught the bug for electrical engineering. Since that night with his father, Mr. Wagner has exceled in his profession, working for various engineering companies. However, the first step to his profession was education. Mr. Wagner graduated from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, in 1972 with a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering. Mr. Wagner’s first job out of college was with the Chattanooga Electric Power Board. From 1972 to 2003, he was a manager in distribution engineering. After his three decades with the Chattanooga Electric Power Board, Mr. Wagner then worked with the Tennessee Valley Authority for one year. From 2004 until his retirement in 2015, Mr. Wagner worked with Sargent and Lundy. Mr. Wagner calls being the manager of the information systems department at the Chattanooga Electric Power Board from 1981 to 1996 as his greatest career achievement. At the end of the day, Mr. Wagner is a family man. He said he hopes to influence and instill curiosity in his seven grandchildren through science and magic. He credits his father, Jack Andrew Wagner, who was a chemical engineer, and his mother, Mary Wagner, as his greatest mentors who motivated and inspired him to be an electrical engineer. He also thanks his co-worker, Willson W., for teaching him even more about engineering while on the job. Alongside his time working as an engineer, Mr. Wagner is the co-chair of the Chattanooga Regional Engineering and Science Fair and is a member of the Chattanooga Engineers Club, where he served as president in 1998. He is also a member of Eta Kappu Nu, the international honor society of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. JACK ANDREW WAGNER JR.
