183 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine ENERGY, ENGINEERING AND MANUFACTURING A braham “Abe” Goo is a retired engineering executive who was employed by the Boeing Company for the duration of his career. Hired in 1951 after graduating from the University of Illinois with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, he became the manager of the B-1 Avionics Program, vice president and general manager of the Aircraft Armament Division in Seattle in 1974. He then served as vice president of military systems, executive vice president and president of Boeing Military Airplane Company before pursuing his final role of president of Advanced Systems in Seattle from 1987 to 1989. The Boeing Company was interested in Mr. Goo, noting his experience with the U.S. Army Air Corps inWorldWar II. As a testament to his success, Mr. Goo received a Pioneer Award from the Unmanned Vehicle Association, a Chinese-American Engineers & Scientists of Southern California Achievement Award, and a University of Illinois Distinguished Alumnus Award in 1989. He cites his career highlight as witnessing the debut of the B2 bomber, whose wing was designed and built by Boeing. Onlookers and other professionals considered the aircraft to be the technological achievement of the year. ENGINEERING EXECUTIVE (RETIRED) Boeing Company Seattle, WA J ohn R. Dewane knew from a young age he wanted to be in the U.S. Navy, and when a recruiter told him about engineering in the Navy, his mind was made up. Mr. Dewane graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1957 with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. He was then active in the Navy and Navy Reserves from 1957 to 1964. Mr. Dewane chose to go back to school for his MBA, which he acquired from the University of Minnesota in 1973. The Navy veteran’s career then became centered on the business world within engineering. Over the years, he has worked at Honeywell, Inc., a production company of commercial and consumer products, engineering services and aerospace systems. He held various positions with the company in Washington, D.C., Minneapolis and Phoenix, culminating in his title of president emeritus in 1997. In 1994, Mr. Dewane opened his own small business, Dewane Investments LLC. Mr. Dewane also had periods where he was a visiting professor, and he was on NASA’s Aeronautics Advisory Committee. After his retirement, he became involved in education and children; for 12 to 15 years, he sat on various school boards and committees.
