198 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine FINANCE AND INSURANCE W. David Hemingway discovered his love for banking during his graduate studies at the University of Utah. Enrolled in a money banking course, he found the material to be interesting and decided to delve into the business. Joining the Zions Bancorporation in Salt Lake City in 1973, he served in various positions until becoming vice chairman of investments of a Zions subsidiary, Zions Management Services Co. In 1977, he became an officer of Zions Corporation, holding the position until 2015. Likewise, he became an executive vice president of capital markets and investments of Zions National Bank in 1984, serving in the role until his retirement from the industry. Alongside his primary responsibilities, Mr. Hemingway sat on the board of directors of the Federal Agricultural Mortgage Corp., also known as Farmer Mac, from 1994 to 2010. He was chairman of the Utah State Money Management Council in 1991 and was a candidate for the Utah State Legislature in 1974. Notably, he was a board of directors member, vice chairman and chairman of the Utah Bankers Association during his tenure. Mr. Hemingway is most notable for his book “Re-Empowerment of the States Amendment to the United States Constitution,” which is currently being filed in the U.S. Congress as House Joint Resolution 32. He also produces his own YouTube channel, “Re-Empowerment of the States Amendment.” Among the highlights of his career, he is proudest of his significant role in Zions Bancorporation’s perseverance through the banking crisis. He was part of the team at Zions that helped pay off the Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP) without issuing more stock. Happily married to Gay Etta Jorgensen since 1977, Mr. Hemingway is the proud father of three sons and three daughter-in-laws. He is also the doting grandfather of seven grandchildren. He holds a Bachelor of Arts from Brigham Young University and Master of Business Administration from the University of Utah. Mr. Hemingway has been featured in Who’s Who in Finance and Industry, Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in the West and Who’s Who of Emerging Leaders in America. W.
