199 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine FINANCE AND INSURANCE L ynard C. Hinojosa knew he wanted a rewarding profession where he could help people while also adequately providing for his family. In his senior year of college, he made the decision to enter law. Mr. Hinojosa called the decision accidental, but the right decision. Mr. Hinojosa received his Bachelor of Arts from Yale University while on full scholarship in 1964, but his college years were far from easy. At Yale, he was on the football team, and during a game at the University of Pennsylvania (UPenn), he broke his neck. Mr. Hinojosa credits Dr. Schmitt, a doctor at UPenn, for saving his life. He also had the dean at Yale, Sam Chauncey, to thank for offering him great support in finding his career path post-accident. Three years later, Mr. Hinojosa graduated with his JD from the University of California Los Angeles School of Law. He was then admitted to the State Bar of California. From there, Mr. Hinojosa began working as an attorney at the Los Angeles County Counsel until 1972. He began at his first firm, Schibel & Hinojosa, where he stayed as partner for 10 years before moving to a solo private practice. He became a partner again, this time at Hinojosa & Wallet, in 1986. He stayed there until 2016 once he became a partner at Hinojosa & Forer. Mr. Hinojosa said he is most proud to hand over his firm to his daughter, who is also a partner, down the line. He mentioned he is also proud of one specific case where he was unable to produce any evidence, but still won because of cross-examination and argument. Mr. Hinojosa expressed that there is no greater feeling than winning a case and justice for a client. Mr. Hinojosa was the recipient of the Arthur K. Marshall Award from the Los Angeles County Bar Association in 2015 and was a member of the probate and trust executive committee for the State Bar of California from 1996 to 2002. For 15 years, he was named to Super Lawyers and was recognized as 100 Best Super California Lawyers in 2019. With all of his success, Mr. Hinojosa thanks his father for instilling in him the need to be ethical, hard-working and honest. LYNARD C.
