222 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine is the current vice chair of the Department of Obstetrics-Gynecology, professor and physician director of the Center for Cancer Care. Among her notable achievements, Dr. Chalas is most proud of becoming president-elect for the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists in 2019. Considering it the pinnacle of her career, she has viewed it as an opportunity to advocate for their physician members and for women’s health on a national forum. Further serving the association as an executive board member and fellow, she is also an honorable member of the Long Island chapter of the American Cancer Society. As a testament to her longevity in the field, Dr. Chalas has garnered numerous accolades. She is the recipient of awards for teaching, clinical and leadership excellence by regional and national organizations. In light of her accomplishments in medicine, she was selected for inclusion in the 70th edition of Who’s Who in America in 2016. W hen she was only 10 years old, Dr. Eva Chalas was hospitalized for a kidney infection. Treated by a wonderful pediatric specialist, Dr. Chalas was inspired to pursue a career in medicine. Discovering her love for obstetrics-gynecology while pursuing academic studies, she was motivated through the mentorship of Dr. William J. Manns Jr., a noted gynecologic oncologist who served women to his fullest potential. She has thoroughly enjoyed her experience with women patients, noting that her time spent in the field has been very fulfilling. Drawing upon an MD in gynecology from Stony Brook University, Dr. Chalas commenced her career in 1987 and rose of the rank of professor and division director of the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Medicine at Stony Brook University. Serving in the roles for 10 years, she was employed by Long Island Gynecologic Oncology Associates, P.C., in Smithtown, New York, in 1997 as a managing partner and president for 11 years.
