225 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine is professor in the Eppley Institute for Research in Cancer and the Fred and Pamela Buffett Cancer Center. Dr. Cohen also has staff pathology appointments at other hospitals, and was adjunct professor in the ProgramonToxicologic Pathology at the Sao Paolo State University Medical School. Earlier in his career, Dr. Cohen was in the Department of Pathology at the University of Massachusetts Medical School in Worcester after obtaining board certification in anatomic and clinical pathology in 1976. Between 1975 and 1981, he was also a staff pathologist at St. Vincent Hospital. Alongside his primary responsibilities, he has sat on numerous government committees, including the Board of Scientific Counselors for the National Toxicology Program and National Institute of Health and Environmental Sciences, and currently on the U.S. EPA Science Advisory Board. He has served on the Board of Trustees of the International Life Sciences Institute and the Health and Environmental Sciences Institute, and currently is a member of the FEMA Expert Panel. He was at Nagoya City University Medical School as a visiting professor from 1976 to 1977. Dr. Cohen maintains affiliation with American Association for the Advancement of Science, Society of Toxicology, Society of Toxicologic Pathology, and American Association for Cancer Research, and is an elected fellow of the Academy of Toxicologic Sciences and the International Academy of Toxicologic Pathology. He has served on editorial boards of numerous science journals and published more than 400 articles in the scientific literature. Dr. Cohen received the Merit and Arnold J. Lehman Awards from the Society of Toxicology, the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Society of Toxicologic Pathology, and Distinguished Scientist Award from the American College of Toxicology. The University of Nebraska gave him their Outstanding Research and Creative Activity Award. D rawing upon an MD and PhD in experimental oncology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Dr. Samuel M. Cohen is a distinguished pathologist, researcher and educator who has been serving the University of Nebraska Medical Center since 1981 as a professor in the Department of Pathology and Microbiology.
