Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine P assionate about environmental conservation, Martha Walsh- McGehee is a noteworthy environmentalist and former president of the Island Conservation Effort, serving in the leadership role from 1988 until her retirement in 2004. During her tenure as president, she also served as board chair of the Tortoise Preserve, research associate of the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences and trustee of the Rare Center for Tropical Bird Conservation from 1987 to 1991. At the inception of her career in 1967, she was a flight attendant for Trans World Airlines for more than a decade. Alongside her primary endeavors, Ms. Walsh-McGehee has served as a partner-in-conservation for the World Wildlife Fund and an associate of the World Resources Institute. A past member of the St. Croix Environmental Association, she has also been affiliated with the Saba Conservation Foundation Nature Conservancy. She remains an advisor to the board of Epic. To prepare for her career, she attended the University of Missouri and Baker University, completing coursework between 1966 and 1967. Later on, she completed further coursework at Marymount Manhattan College in New York from 1980 to 1982. To remain abreast of industry developments, Ms. Walsh-McGehee has maintained affiliation with several organizations, including the Caribbean Conservation Association, the St. Lucia Naturalists Society, Cedam International and the Society of Caribbean Ornithology, where she served as an executive council member and on their board of directors. Likewise, she has been active with the Friends of the Abaco Parrot, the Association for Parrot Conservation, the Tropical Audubon Society and the Marine Conservation Institute. As a testament to her success, Ms. Walsh-McGehee has been highlighted in several Who’s Who publications, such as Who’s Who in Finance and Industry, Who’s Who in Science and Engineering, Who’s Who in the East, Who’s Who in the South and Southwest, Who’s Who in the World andWho’s Who of American Women. Happily married for many years, she enjoys reading, birdwatching and international travel in her spare time.
