Rodriguez’s talents in the arts began rather unconventionally, and at a young age, as he would get his inspiration to create art after strugglingwith asthma attacks. Later in life, he went on to study and teach art domestically and internationally. Mr. Rodriguez graduated from the Parsons School of Design in New York City with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 1979. He also completed coursework at the BrooklynMuseum of Art, the Art Students League and the University of Innsbruck in Austria. Mr. Rodriguez has had an eclectic career across different fields, such as fashion, art and teaching. He most recently was a passenger service representative in New York City from 2005 to 2006. He has also been a teacher at Trinity Lutheran School and an art instructor at the Jewish Guild for the Blind, New York’s St. Francis of Assisi, Camp Oakhurst, Elko Lake Camps, the Baldwin School and Emerson School. Mr. Rodriguez has also been a supervisor at Saks Fifth Avenue and was a commissioned artist and owner of E.A. Rodriguez from 1990 to 2005. Art has been the focal point of Mr. Rodriguez’ career; he has been featured in 20 group exhibitions through the United States in New York City, Rochester, Philadelphia, Dallas and Wyoming as well as in Van Nuys, California, and Troy, Alabama. He has also been involved in group exhibitions internationally in South Africa, Germany and Colombia. His juried exhibitions have been in Charlottesville, Virginia, and Long Beach and Yonkers, New York. Mr. Rodriguez’s one-man show took place at St. Francis of Assisi. Mr. Rodriguez’s talents have not gone unnoticed, as he was the recipient of the Max Beckmann Fellowship and the winner of the Change Incorporated Grant. With his busy art schedule, Mr. Rodriguez makes the time to affiliate himself with the International Society Poets. His advice to prospective artists is to have a deep respect for history and technology. ERNESTO A.
