43 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine ARTS, MEDIA AND ENTERTAINMENT I an Williams is a distinguished writer, broadcaster and associate professor at the Bard Center for Global and International Studies at New York University and at Boricua College. Noting that the key to his success has always been his avid reading, he wrote his first play at the age of 8. A native of Liverpool, England, he graduated from the University of Liverpool with a Bachelor of Arts in English, with honors, in 1973. A former UN consultant, rail worker and union official, Mr. Williams notably spent 13 years on the railways following his suspension from university for protesting South African investments. In addition, he earned a Nuffield Fellowship in 1983, where he conducted studies on Indian unions. While in India, he wrote for The Guardian and other prominent newspapers. Upon returning to England, he was prominent in the UK Labour Party as a speechwriter for former leader Neil Kinnock. In addition, he has served as judge and vice president of the Foreign Press Association and chair of the New York branch of the UK Labour Party International. After immigrating to the United States in 1989, he was president of the United Nations Correspondents Association, founding their annual awards ceremony in 1995. A prolific writer, Mr. Williams has authored nine books, which can be purchased on Amazon. Recognized books to his credit include “Political and Cultural Perception of George Orwell: British and American Views” in 2017, “UNTold: The Real Story of the United Nations in Peace and War” in 2017, and “Tequila: A Global History” in 2015. He has contributed chapters to books and articles to innumerable magazines and other professional publications. In light of his outstanding contributions to the industry, Mr. Williams was the recipient of the Founders Award from the United Nations Correspondents Association in 2012, a New York Film Award in 1995 and a Liverpool Press Club in 1986.
