ARTS, MEDIA AND ENTERTAINMENT A t the inception of her career in 1969, Rea-Silvia Costin served as a design engineer at the Institute of Mining in Bucharest, Romania, for six years. For the following five years, she was a project engineer at Machine Construction in Bucharest until immigrating to the United States to pursue better engineering opportunities. An engineer III in the Florida Department of Environmental Regulation in Jacksonville from 1981 to 1983, she subsequently served Aikenhead Engineering as a design engineer and Smith & Gilespie Engineers as a project engineer. A past project manager and engineering manager for the City of Jacksonville, she currently serves as principal owner of Costin Engineering, Inc. Drawing upon a Master of Civil Engineering from the Faculty of Hydrotechnology Construction in Bucharest, Ms. Costin is also a renowned author, having written several short stories, poems and books. Named a Poet Laureate by the International Library of Poetry, she also received a President’s Award for Literary Excellence from the National Authors Registry and Editor’s Choice Award fromPoetry.com.
