71 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine served as an internal medicine residency program director since 2018. Prior to these endeavors, Dr. Cary served the University of Kentucky College of Medicine between 2009 and 2017 in various roles, including assistant professor of pediatrics and internal medicine, MedPeds residency program director and associate professor of pediatrics and internal medicine. During this time, hewas also the medical director of the Polk-Dalton Clinic with UK HealthCare for one year. DrawinguponaBachelorof Science fromWestern Kentucky University andMD from the University of Kentucky, Dr. Cary sat on the governor’s council of the Kentucky chapter of the American College of Physicians between 2009 and 2017. Likewise, he is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and American College of Physicians. An active member of the American Medical Association, the Society of General Internal Medicine, the Infectious Diseases Society of America and the Society of Hospital Medicine, Dr. Cary has always enjoyed teaching and passing on his knowledge to prospective medical professionals. Holding several accreditations and published research in the areas of medical education and health policy, Dr. Cary commenced his career as a pediatric hospitalist at Kentucky Children’s Hospital. As a testament to his success, he was the recipient of the Abraham Flexner Master Educator Award from the University of Kentucky College of Medicine and the William R. Willard Teaching Award fromtheUniversity of KentuckyDepartment of Pediatrics. Equally involved in his community, he was honored with an Eagle Scout Award from the Boy Scouts of America. Married since 2007, Dr. Cary is a native of Louisville, Kentucky, and currently resides in Ooltewah, Tennessee. In his spare time, he enjoys movies, traveling and studying history. He was featured in the 66th edition of Who’s Who in America in 2011. S pecializing in pediatrics and internal medicine, Dr. L. Curtis Cary is a renowned medical administrator and educator who has been serving the University of Tennessee College of Medicine at Chattanooga since 2017. Starting his tenure as an associate professor within the Erlanger Health System, a role he still holds today, he has also L.
