74 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine EDUCATION D r. Frank J. Cody began his teaching journey long before being an adjunct professor and academy coordinator at Spring Arbor University. Directly after leaving high school, Dr. Cody entered the Roman Catholic Order and became a priest. Along that journey, he commenced his studies at Loyola University Chicago, receiving his AB, PhL, MA and MDiv over the course of 13 years. He then received his PhD fromThe Ohio State University in 1980. Teaching was Dr. Cody’s passion throughout these years of receiving an education, as he taught mainly at high schools along with some college courses. He felt he would serve most to the order and the church by being in a position of leadership. He chose to work toward a doctorate so he would be most prepared for all eventualities in educational administration. On top of the numerous educational civic roles he has held, Dr. Cody held positions at St. Ignatius High School in Cleveland, Chapel School in Sao Paulo, Brazil, the University of Detroit, Grand Rapids Catholic Secondary Schools, Woodside Priory School in Portola Valley, California, Kalamazoo Central High School and the University of Phoenix. Dr. Cody credits his lifelong mentors Father Michael Montague (deceased), Father Walter Farrell and Reverend John Libens as the key administrators that left strong influences on his personal growth in his field. Additional growth in his endeavors included creative works in publishing. Dr. Cody is the co-author of “Manual of Educational RiskManagement” in 1991, “Escola e Communidade: Uma Parceria Necessaria” in 1997, “O Professor Do Terceiro Milenio” in 2000, and “Um Novo Ensino Para Uma Nova Era” in 2006. He has also contributed articles to professional journals. Dr. Cody is quite proud of a recent work surrounding his achievement as a National Champion in the 100 butterfly at the 2011 Senior Olympics. Students from a local university put together a 10-minute long documentary about Dr. Cody’s involvement in the Senior Olympics, as well as his life, specifically his years abroad in Brazil at an international school and his brief time as an exchange professor in China.
