77 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine EDUCATION D uring his undergraduate studies at Augustana College in Illinois, Dr. Mark L. Davison came under the tutelage of a professor, who directed Dr. Davison in performing work with measuring academic talent and college selection criteria. Noting that identifying and preparing talent in critical to progress in society and the success of future generations, he graduated from Augustana MARK L. DAVISON, PHD JOHN P. YACKEL AND AMERICAN GUIDANCE SERVICE PROFESSOR OF EDUCATIONAL ASSESSMENT AND MEASUREMENT University of Minnesota Maple Grove, MN Collegewith a Bachelor of Arts in 1970. From there, he received a Master of Arts and PhD from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1972 and 1974, respectively. Over the course of his career, Dr. Davison served the University of Minnesota in myriad capacities. Commencing his tenure as chair of the Department of Educational Psychology, hewent on to become the director of the Office of Educational Accountability and Minnesota Interdisciplinary Training Educational Research. During this time, he began his role as John P. Yackel & American Guidance Service Incorporated professor of educational assessment and measurement in 2004. Since 2012, he has also been a program coordinator in quantitative methods in education. Dr. Davison is the author of “Multidimensional Scaling” and was the editor of the journal “Applied Psychological Measurement” for five years. Notable for helping the state of Minnesota develop its educational accountability system, he is also proud of his role developing the postdoctoral MITER program in educational research. Likewise, he has further developed computerized reading comprehensive assessments. The former president of Division Five of the American Psychological Association and chair of the committee on Psychological Testing and Assessment, Dr. Davison has been honored multiple times for his successes in the field. In 2018, he earned the Distinguished Teaching Award from the University of Minnesota, having previously received a grant from the U.S. Department of Education and fellowship from the Minnesota Department of Education. Earlier in his career, he was the recipient of fellowships from the U.S. Navy and the Spencer Foundation. He remains a fellowof the American Psychological Association. Married to Leslie J. Danuser since 1978, Dr. Davison has two children and five grandchildren. In his spare time, he enjoys jogging, swimming and sailing.
