A ttracted to the hotel administration industry from an early age, Peter Stalker Fithian formerly worked in hotels during the summer months in high school and college. His interest in the tourism industry sparked, he attended Cornell University and earned a Bachelor of Science in hotel administration in 1951. From there, he served Treadway Inns in Falmouth, Massachusetts, as an assistant manager in 1954, Augusta National G.C. in Georgia as a manager in 1955 and Kona Inn in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, as a manager from 1955 to 1956. A past assistant manager at Kaiser’s Hawaiian Village in Honolulu for one year, he has served as the president of Greeters of Hawaii Ltd. in Honolulu since 1957. Mr. Fithian exhibits a fiery passion for his work and notes that one should be able to work diligently to succeed in the tourism industry. Citing the founding of Greeters of Hawaii to be an ultimate career highlight, he is immensely proud of his business, which advocates for and practices the act of greeting travelers in airports.
