286 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine The highlight of Mr. McEachern’s career was using his creativity as a tax attorney to help his clients. He had a knack for using tax law to solve clients’ problems and also obtain money for charity. Mr. McEachern was the recipient of the Gold Medal Partner Award from the Palm Beach County School Board. The advice that Mr. McEachern can offer the next generation is that law can be a wonderful career as long as one works with dedication and tenacity. What will make a good lawyer are people skills and education. Outside of law, Mr. McEachern has become a successful author of multiple works. He has written “Casting Lots,” “Caledonia: A Song of Scotland,” “New Caledonia: A Song of America” and “The Life of Levi.” His other hobbies include astronomy, history and literature. Mr. McEachern is also the president of the Tax Planning Council of Palm Beach and of the Foundation for Family Services. W illiam D. McEachern has had many supporters who believed he would make an amazing lawyer. After enough persuasion fromhis family, he began to study for the LSAT. Mr. McEachern graduated from Duke University in 1972 with a Bachelor of Arts and from Fordham University in 1977 with a JD. He also achieved an LLM from New York University in 1981. Mr. McEachern is certified to practice law in New York and Florida, as well as in estate planning and probate law. Mr. McEachern’s career began in banking in New York City. From 1972 to 1974, he worked at the Chemical Bank as a trust administrator and a senior trust administrator. In 1978, he moved to the United American Bank as a vice president and trust officer, and then in 1979, hewas a trust officer at Bankers Trust Co. In 1981, Mr. McEachern officially began his career in law in Florida as an associate at Gunster, Yoakley, Criser & Stewart. Until 2007, he has been a partner at Finley, Kumble, Wagner, Heine, Underberg, Manley, Myerson & Casey; Quarles & Brady; Holland & Knight; Winthrop & Stimson; and Shutts & Bowen. WILLIAM D.
