He represents the operators of the Carlsbad Desalination Plant, which is the largest desalination plant in the Western Hemisphere, producing 50 million gallons of water a day. Mr. Solar had his start as a real estate lawyer, but after having a client who bought and sold water rights and water, Mr. Solar began helping him and took a real interest in the cause. He stuck with it because he was passionate about water supply, and he became excellent at fighting for it as a lawyer. Mr. Solar said he would like to do more in this field because he believes, whether we realize it or not, that the entire United States has a water shortage, whether through lack of supply or contamination. He thinks there is room to grow along the coastlines and he would like to see this done in the next 10 to 20 years. His advice to fellow members in his industry is to not expect praise, but to put everything into obtaining positive results, which is the ultimate praise. K eith R.
