307 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine U pon earning a Bachelor of Arts from Sioux Falls College, Tony C. Merry served as an elementary music teacher at Beresford Public Schools in South Dakota for two years beginning in 1973. Shifting career paths to a government position, he served the State of South Dakota as a deputy state auditor, commissioner of the State Planning Agency and chief of staff to the governor between 1975 and 1987. During this time, the governor strongly encouraged Mr. Merry to pursue law. As such, Mr. Merry attended Harvard University, graduating cum laude with a JD in 1989. Mr. Merry has been the owner of the Law Offices of Tony C. Merry LLC since 2006. Prior appointments to his credit have included partner at McCarthy, Palmer, Volkema, Boyd & Thomas and the Benefits Department Law Firm. Most proud of his successful arguments in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, he thoroughly enjoyed his appellate work, representing plaintiffs in cases that are brought under the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA). Marsh, Esq., focuses his practice on mortgage lending, real estate and lease matters, securities matters and corporate governance. A founding member of O’Reilly, Marsh & Corteselli P.C. since 1986, he also founded Buckley, Kremer, O’Reilly, Pieper, Hoban & Marsh in 1982. An alumnus of Fordham University, he graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts. Thereafter, he attended St. John’s Law School, graduating cum laude with a JD. Admitted to the New York State Bar in 1976, Mr. Marsh has been admitted to practice in all Courts of the State of New York, as well as several New York district courts, appellate courts and the Supreme Court of the United States. He authored the New York State chapter of “National Mortgage Law Summary,” published by the American College of Mortgage Attorneys, where he currently serves as New York State chairman. He also sits on the banking law committees of the American Bar Association, the New York State Bar Association, and the Bar Association for the Counties of Nassau and Suffolk and the City of New York.
