283 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine E dward J. Horowitz, Esq., has been interested in law from an early age, drawing upon influence from his father, who was also an attorney. Watching trials at the municipal court with his friends in his spare time, Mr. Horowitz was further encouraged to pursue law by a high school teacher. To prepare for his career, he attended the University of California Los Angeles, where he graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in 1963. From there, he received a JD from Harvard Law School in 1966 and was admitted to practice in the State of California the following year. Practicing law before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First and Ninth Circuits, the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California and the Supreme Court of the United States, Mr. Horowitz has been serving in a private practice, Edward J. Horowitz, A Professional Corporation, since 1978. Prior to this endeavor, he was a partner at Horvitz, Greines & Horowitz from 1976 to 1978 and Goldhammer & Horowitz from 1969 to 1972. Likewise, Mr. Horowitz served the Second Appellate District of the California Court of Appeals as a senior attorney and the California Department of Justice as a deputy attorney general. He has been lead counsel in more than 540 appellate cases, including 370 civil and 170 criminal cases. Notable for representing Nicole Brown Simpson’s estate in O.J. Simpson’s appeal case, Mr. Horowitz devised a theory that was adopted by the appellate court and upheld by the state supreme court. It has been cited widely in other cases. He has been an A/V rated attorney through Martindale-Hubbell since 1979 and was honored in Best Lawyers in America by U.S. News & World Report in 2017. Mr. Horowitz has been recognized widely in his field, having been a featured listee in the Bar Register of Preeminent Lawyers by Martindale- Hubbell and named California Lawyer of the Year by California Journal Magazine.
