351 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine R ev. William C. Lindholm has been an ordained minister of the Lutheran Church since 1958. A devoted figure in the religious field, he began his career as a pastor at the Hope Lutheran Church in Oscoda, Michigan, and the Grace Lutheran Church in East Tawas, Michigan, the same year, serving in these roles until 1970. From 1970 until his retirement from the church in 2002, he was a pastor at the Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Livonia, Michigan. Rev. Lindholm delved into his profession due to the influence of a high school English teacher, who encouraged him to attend a church-oriented college. First obtaining a Bachelor of Arts from Augustana College in 1954, he soon attended the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago, where he earned a Master of Divinity in 1958. During his undergraduate studies, he was the founder, builder and operator of the WAUG radio station, which is still in existence today. Among the notable highlights of his career, Rev. Lindholm is proudest of winning the U.S. Supreme Court case on religious liberty on Wisconsin v. Yoder, which allowed the Amish people representation in the Supreme Court. As chairman of the National Committee for Amish Religious Freedom, he has also sat on the board of directors of Carthage College and served as a foundation board member of Lutheran Social Services in Michigan, now called Samaritas. In 1970, he was elected chairman and builder of Michi-Lu-Ca Conference Center and Camp in Fairview, Michigan. Demonstrating versatility in his field, Rev. Lindholm has been the editor of the Michigan Synod News and board member. He is also a licensed FCC engineer and certified airplane pilot. A trustee of the Charitas Foundation in his spare time, he was happily married to the late Patricia Ann Schneider for 65 wonderful years, and has three children and two grandchildren. In recognition of his outstanding contributions to religion, he was selected for inclusion in the fourth edition of Who’s Who in Religion in 1992 and the 21st edition of Who’s Who in the Midwest in 1987.
