Middleton Jr. is the attorney, president and owner of his own law firm, The Middleton Firm, LLC, based in Savannah, Georgia. His legal services focus on environmental law and civil trial law. Mr. Middleton received his college degree from Washington and Lee University in Lexington City, Virginia. In 1976, he returned to Washington and Lee to receive his JD, allowing him to begin practicing law. Mr. Middleton’s decision to attend law school was a bit unconventional, but not something too uncommon done by young men in the 1970s. He became involved in his profession and enrolled in law school to avoid being drafted for the Vietnam War. The Vietnam War lasted from November 1955 to April 1975, and in that span of time, more than 2.2 million young men were drafted from an eligible pool of 27 million. Many young men that did not want to go to war sought refuge in college, parental deferments or they fled to Canada. This life decision ended up being a positive one for Mr. Middleton as it allowed him to excel in his career, as seen through his numerous awards and achievements. Mr. Middleton won the Pursuit of Justice Award from the American Bar Association (ABA), the Tonahill Award for Leadership from the New Lawyers Division of the American Association RICHARD H.
