112 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine D r. Stuart P. Pegg is a noted surgeon and medical educator who currently holds the title of professor emeritus at the University of Queensland in Brisbane, QLD, Australia. Retiring in 2001, he formerly served as a professor and associate professor of burn surgery at the university beginning in 1994. A longtime director of surgery at the Royal Brisbane Hospital for 17 years, he also served the hospital as a surgical supervisor for a decade beginning in 1967. Earlier in his career, he was a surgical registrar at the Royal Berkshire Hospital in England and Princess Alexandra Hospital in Australia. He commenced his career as a medical superintendent at Julia Creek, QLD, Australia, in 1958. Drawing upon a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Science, with honors, from the University of Queensland, Dr. Pegg returned to the university 40 years later to obtain an MD in 2006. He is registered in general and pediatric surgery through the Medical Board of Australia. A former major in the Australian Army Reserve from 1981 to 1987, he has further contributed chapters to books and articles to professional journals within his areas of expertise. Holding several executive positions in myriad organizations during his tenure, Dr. Pegg is a past president of the Churchill Fellows’ Association of Queensland, past vice president of the International Society for Burn Injuries, and past president of the Australian and New Zealand Burn Association. A fellow of the Royal Australian College of Surgery, he has also been an honorary lifetime member of the International Society for Burn Injuries since 2004. In light of his exceptional undertakings, Dr. Pegg has accrued many accolades and honors. The recipient of the G. Whitaker International Burn Prize in 2003, he recently received the Vice Chancellor Alumni Award of Excellence from the University of Queensland in 2018. He also earned a Decorated Order of Australia and was selected for inclusion in Who’s Who in Medicine and Healthcare, Who’s Who in Science and Engineering, and Who’s Who in the World. STUART P.
