118 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine D rawing upon a Bachelor of Science and MD from Northwestern University, Dr. Lee F. Rogers is a radiologist and educator who amassed 47 years in his field. After receiving a medical degree, he was a rotating intern at the Walter Reed General Hospital and resident in radiology at Fitzsimons General Hospital before serving as a radiologist at Baptist Memorial Hospital in San Antonio from 1967 to 1968. Joining the faculty of the University of Texas Medical School in San Antonio from 1968 to 1971, he then transferred to Houston, serving the MD Anderson and Hermann Hospitals from 1972 to 1974 before commencing his tenure at the Feinberg School of Medicine at Northwestern University. First serving Northwestern as professor and chairman of the Department of Radiology in 1974 – a role he held until 1995 – Dr. Rogers was also the Bradd and Kennedy Professor of Radiology between 1986 and 1995 before becoming the Isadore Meschan Distinguished Professor of Radiology at Wake Forest University School of Medicine from 1995 to 2004. During this time, he was the editor-in-chief of the American Journal of Roentgenology from 1995 to 2003. Concluding his career in 2014, he served as a professor of radiology at the University of Arizona Health Sciences Center. Dr. Rogers was a visiting professor on 115 occasions and has given 30 named lectures. He has published over 150 scientific articles, 100 editorials and three books, including “Radiology of Skeletal Trauma,” which was considered the standard text for many years. In addition, he established an academic Department of Radiology at the Feinberg School of Medicine and served as chairman of the board of chancellors and president of the American College of Radiology during the development and introduction of the Relative Value Scale for Medicare reimbursement. Further, he was president of the American Board of Radiology during the development of the Certificate of Added Qualification in Neuroradiology, Pediatric Radiology, and Vascular and Interventional Radiology. As a testament to his success, Dr. Rogers was named Educator of the Year by the American Roentgen Ray Society. He has also won numerous gold medals from esteemed medical organizations. LEE F.
