Drawing upon a Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts from the University of Tokyo and a PhD from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Dr. Inoguchi is an eminent scholar professor of political science at J.F. Oberlin University. A former professor at the University of Tokyo from1988 until attaining emeritus status in 2005, he also served as a professor at Chuo University from 2005 to 2009 and chancellor and president of the University of Niigata Prefecture from 2009 to 2017. He commenced his career as an associate professor at Sophia University in 1974, holding the role for three years. Dr. Inoguchi has been an honorary member of the Japanese Society for Behavior Metrics since 2017 andmaintains affiliationwith the International Studies Association, the American Political Science Association, the International Political Science Association and the Japanese Association of International Relations, where he served as president from 2000 to 2002. A past visiting professor at the Graduate Institute of International Studies in Geneva, Australian National University and the National University of Singapore, he also remained involved with the Japanese Government Legislative Council. Garnered with numerous accolades during his career, Dr. Inoguchi received the SuntoryAcademic Award, the International Communication Excellent Research Award, the Japan Association of Public Policy Best Book Award and the Japan Society for Behavior Metrics Best Book Award, among other honors. Married with two children, he enjoys reading and writing in his spare time. D r. Takashi Inoguchi is a prolific writer on such subjects as Japanese politics and foreign policy, East Asian international relations, Asian comparative politics, quality of life in Asia, evidence-based typology of Asian societies and transnationalism as manifested in the form of multilateral treaties.
