234 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine E ntering the field of dentistry due to his desire to be of service to others, Dr. Daniel E. Jolly commenced his career as a practitioner in a private practice in Newcastle, Wyoming, in 1978. Moving through the ranks of success, he soon served as an assistant professor at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, and associate professor, full professor and director of the general practice residency program at Ohio State University until departing from education in 2008. During his educational tenure, Dr. Jolly also served as chief of restorative dentistry at the Truman Medical Center and director of dental oncology at Trinity Lutheran Hospital. In the latter stages of his career, Dr. Jolly began serving as chief forensic dentist at the Franklin County Coroner’s Office in 2000, a role he still holds today. In addition, he has served in the same position at the Licking County Coroner’s Office since 2019. A past president of the ImmediaDent of Ohio for five years, he has also been a part-time dental director at an insurance company since 2013. He has conducted various speaking engagements on forensic and medical dentistry over the years as well. Drawing upon a Bachelor of Arts in biology and chemistry and a DDS from the University of Missouri-Kansas City, Dr. Jolly completed a residency in hospital dentistry at the Leavenworth VA Medical Center in Kansas from 1977 to 1978. The author of five books, including “OSU Manual of Hospital Dentistry,” “Nursing Home Dentistry” and “Dental Oncology,” he has been the president of the American Board of Special Care Dentistry since 2004 and of the American Association of Hospital Dentists since 2003. In recognition of his exceptional undertakings in dental medicine, Dr. Jolly was named a fellow of the Pierre Fauchard Academy, the American College of Dentists, the Academy of Dentistry for Persons with Disabilities, the American Society of Geriatric Dentistry, American Dentistry International, the American Association of Hospital Dentists and the Academy of General Dentistry. He also earned a Humanitarian Award from the Ohio Dental Association and Alumni Achievement Award in Dentistry from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. DANIEL E.
